Choosing Newborn Clothing For Special Occasions

Finding that perfect outfit for your baby's special day doesn't have to be a hassle. Whether you need something for a christening, baptism, birthday celebration or religious ceremony; you can always find the perfect outfit if you take time and prepare yourself several weeks beforehand so you don't get let in a huddle on the day before. With some religious ceremonies there may be an official dress or item of clothing that should be worn. The newborn clothing outfit should represent the importance of the day.

Christening
This involves a christening gown that can be worn for boys and girls. The dress for the girls can be longer and may be smocked. This dress is usually white and symbolizes the child spirit's purity and innocence and then dedicated to God by the parents.

Naming Ceremonies
This ceremony does not require a specific outfit. In most cases the outfit is made with pale blue or white in a silk or other fine fabric. This newborn clothing outfit is unlikely to be worn again due to the significance of this ceremony.

Dedications
This is a ceremony that is unlike the baptism. The parents believe the child should wait until they are old enough to dedicate themselves to God. In this ceremony there is no suggested newborn clothing. Parents and children dress in their best clothes. Suits are for the boys and dresses for girls.
